Dear WBRG Members, below you, can find a link to our new article
entitled “Hunted or something else? Investigating ‘after-impact’
perforations in prehistoric seal scapulae from Šventoji, Lithuania”,
just published in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports. The
article addresses the problem of the origin of the perforations
visible on some prehistoric animal scapulae. As a rule, they are
considered to be so-called PIMs = impact traces resulting from
hunting, i.e. impacts with hunting weapons. In our article, we present
the results of the traceological analysis of 6 seal scapulae bearing
such marks, which indicate a completely different origin of the
examined damage. I hope that the article will interest you :-)
