Hello Marta and Hans,
Apologies about the delay, this is a fascinating object. Is it hollow? I suspect that it might be. It is probably a fairly elaborate handle but there is also the possibility that it is a medieval lucet, an implement used to create braids. Difficult to see if there are any prongs at the end. The so-called ‘English’ variant of lucets uses caprine metatarsals and has two distinctive prongs at one end, as in the photo here. The earliest lucets go back to the late ninth century and they continue into the twelfth century.
Hope this helps,
Ian Riddler

Dear Marta,
I would like to use this strange piece as Bonetool of the month on the other day. Would that be possible?
With kind regards
Christian

Although she thinks the artefact is medieval, she does not exclude the possibility of an earlier date because Bronze age levels were identified on site, too. The problem is that it derives from old excavations and the field notes are lost.
