Dear Marie-Louise,
I would suggest that the peg could be a Gaming piece. The spoon could be a Mustard Spoon. Pig fibula were often used for this purpose.It's so nice to see worked bone from the Thames. More please.

 Thank you, Alice! The find was made my a fellow mudlark, I will ask him for scale. He has considered ear scoop but it is much too large at the 'scoopy' ends. I think the larger end looks more like a paddle or shovel shape, so, yes perhaps for taking snuff from a table snuff box? I'll ask Mark for scale now.

have a small bone spoon from 19th century Scotland in my collection although that piece has holes drilled thru the bowl. One suggestion - a scale woukld be useful. Romans also used ear scoops in their medicine but I have never see one so roughly made.

Hello all, 
I wondered if you might be able to help me with two worked bone artefacts found on the River Thames foreshore?
The first is a peg-like artefact, the second, an assumed spoon. 
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
