[Bonetools] WBRG website updates September 2022

Dear WBRG members,

this month’s bonetool are two Inuit needle cases from Point Hope, Alaska, made of walrus ivory, which were kindly provided by Claire Houmard. See here for details:

Code of Conduct
As a result of various happenings of harassment, marginalization and unprofessional conduct within organizations and at conferences around the world, the ICAZ EC and IC have increasingly felt that the expectations around professional conduct need to be formally expressed. Kat Szabó, Kara Larson and Samantha Aird formed a subcommittee and developed a first draft (see http://alexandriaarchive.org/icaz/about-policies <http://alexandriaarchive.org/icaz/about-policies>). At the recent meetings in June 2022 in Stockholm we agreed to adopt this code of conduct the throughout the whole of ICAZ including all working groups. I have therefore published the code of conduct on the „About“-page of the WBRG website at https://www.wbrg.net/about <https://www.wbrg.net/about>.

I recently rediscovered a list of bonetool related publications on the website of the website "Instrumentum Europe" run by the Groupe de Travail Européen sur l’Artisanat et les Productions Manufacturées dans l’Antiquité. It contains 487 references on objects made of bone, wood, ivory and horn. Many of these are also included in the WBRG reference database, but not all. For access go to
