Thank you for sharing your work. For me, it was a nice surprise to discover how your pin cushions illustrated in Fig. 3 on page 108 resemble some 10th-14th c. needle cases from Hungary that we have recently published (see Fig. 8 in the attached paper).

Perhaps you will be interested in an article in an archaeological collection, which describes needle cases, including bone ones (1 - from the bone of a bird) from the ancient Russian settlement of Shestovitsa. The article also contains links to other (unfortunately, mostly Russian-language literature) on this issue. The bone needle cases mentioned in this article have been previously studied by me. The article is on page 105.
