"Connecting tools and materials in the Dutch Late Neolithic through use-wear analysis and experiments"
March 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Lecture will be presented by Professor Annelou van Gijn
I am presently in discussions with the National Museums Scotland about a potential bone/antler tool research project, so I am jolly excited myself. If you want to see some of our videos that encourage people to engage with antler working, inspired by our research on antler artefacts and experiential workshops, do check out our short films here https://guerillaarchaeology.com/video-guides-to-antler-crafts/ We also have grant applications in to take our workshops back to the islands and share our knowledge with the host communities. We welcome any comments.

Subject: Zooarchaeology Saves the World: Call for Content
Dear Worked Bone Group,
We want to invite everyone to submit an abstract for our upcoming "experimental online conference" on the topic of "Zooarchaeology Saves the World" in May. You can find out more about the conference in the attached document and on the conference website<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fzooarch628110784.wordpress.com%2F&data=04%7C01%7Cmulvilleja%40CARDIFF.AC.UK%7C1f7daaf73b9548576ea608d9f6b3ea0a%7Cbdb74b3095684856bdbf06759778fcbc%7C1%7C0%7C637812076187463798%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=7Yzmo8TW3fzYirBXNcVw8VQAyvEIbda%2BFWbanjvMhUU%3D&reserved=0>. We are soliciting short, thoughtful, and asynchronous content on themes that highlight zooarchaeology's impact on the world around us: from climate change/sustainability/conservation to social justice/decolonization to accessibility, pedagogy, and outreach. Feel free to highlight successes, failures, and needs.
We are aiming for this "experimental online conference" to take place from May 10th-31st (schedule below). We are hoping for a range of content and media. Submitted content can include short videos, podcasts, posters, webpages, Twitter threads, online zines, etc. Some of the discussion will take place via the ZOOARCH listserv and over social media. As well, we are planning to stagger five short synchronous sessions (2-3 hours) that will take place on different times and days in order to maximize international participation. These synchronous sessions will include a few keynote speakers, and much of the time will be spent in smaller groups to discuss thematic topics, field questions, have informal conversation, and craft calls-for-action in our zooarchaeology community.
We are committed to accessibility and believe that an online forum can maximize it. We want all participants to enhance the accessibility of any content they create by curating captions, transcripts, or alt-text, when feasible. Given the availability of auto-translation for captions and alt-text, final submissions can be in the language of one's choice.
We hope you are interested in participating in some form or another. If you wish to take an active part and craft content for the conference, instructions on where and how to submit an abstract (due March 22nd) are available in the attached document and on the website. Nearer to the conference, we will send out another invitation for registration. The conference will be free for all attendees and participants.
Please send any questions or suggestions to ZooarchTheWorld at gmail.com<mailto:ZooarchTheWorld at gmail.com>. Please share this Call for Content with anyone or any group that might be interested (including non-zooarchaeologists).
Thank you,
