can you make a picture of the opposite side of fig. 1 ? On this fig. 1, I feel a light assymmetry, which could lead to a transversal apophysis rather than to a dorsal one, and the channel could be a trachelian (of the neck) one ; but the vertebraes of the neck o whales are too crashed/flat for that. A last a tiny hope lies in the caudal region, with the ventral ephiphyises of the hemal arc, but I do not see/remember/know their morphology.

Hi everyone, 
This axe head came up on a burial site of probable medieval date in Ireland. It was found among animal bone and disarticulated human bone, and seems to be made of antler. 

I am looking for any parallels that people might know of. And also anyone's thoughts on function, as it would seem to me that it would have little use for woodworking or for butchery - but I am open to correction on this.
