One more thought - the middle BA in Hungary really does see the common introduction of holes to fix materials like leather in handles - maybe this is something like that. In that case it might be useful to look at polishes inside the object cavity and around the hole.

Does somebody know this type of artefact made on caprine's long bone, found in the East of France, and which dates of the middle Bronze Age? Could it be a whistle?
