Dear Imola,
this is a known tool but not very frequent from Neolithic lake settlements (mostly second half of 4th Millennium and first half of in the alpine region (means: Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Germany, etc.). It is made of red deer antler. The function is not uniforme because it can be used as hammer or as a hafting for other smaller instruments as points or chisels. You can see the traces of the drilling in the hole which is made by a wooden driller together with sand and water.
All the best!
Jörg

Dear everyone,
A friend of mine asked for help, they're trying to ID some old inventory pieces in their museum.

Have you seen anything like the tool in the pictures attached? I can see it is made of antler, but could you help in identifying its function and/or the time period most probably used in?
I hope it's familiar to some of you!

Thank you in advance for any information!
All the best to everyone,
Imola
