Onderwerp: [Bonetools] Roman doll from Israel

Dear all,

Enclosed are photographs of ivory doll fragments found in the Roman temple at Sepphoris, Israel. As you can see, only the back and two pieces of the head (including parts of the hair-style) remained. It was an articulated doll, but the side hole for the hand is special – usually it is only a simple hole. The inner side of the back shows metal rust, apparently of a metal hinge that held the hands.

The researcher, Tomer Fucs bar, would be happy to receive any parallels and thoughts about this object, not known to me here in Israel. You may write him at tomerfucsbar at gmail.com<mailto:tomerfucsbar at gmail.com>

Have a nice summer, as much as possible,

Etan Ayalon
