Objet: [Bonetools] WBRG-website updates April 2021
Dear WBRG members,
this month's bonetool is a very unusual late medieval stylus from Eastern Germany, which has been subject of a request to the BONETOOLS list in 2012. Still a very cute and extraordinary object.
Funding issues:
An important change is going to take place in the background of the WBRG this year. Since Jörg Schibler retired recently the Institut für Prähistorische und Naturwissenschaftliche Archäologie of the Universität Basel (IPNA) cannot cover the full costs for the maintenance of the WBRG website anymore, which the IPNA did from 2010 until 2020. The IPNA will continue to cover the hosting and technical costs thanks to the initiative of Sabine Deschler-Erb, but for the maintenance of the website itself new funding has to be found from this year on.
Justyna Baron of the Uniwersytet Wrocławski has kindly offered to serve as a hub for the financial support of the WBRG website. She will collect donations of institutions willing to support the WBRG website and provide official receipts, invoices or any payment confirmation from the Uniwersytet Wrocławski. Anybody willing or interested in financially supporting the maintenance of the WBRG website as a resource on worked bone research may please get in touch with Justyna via [ mailto:justyna.baron at uwr.edu.pl | justyna.baron at uwr.edu.pl ] .
Justin Bradfield ( [ mailto:jbradfield8 at gmail.com | jbradfield8 at gmail.com ] ), Alice Choyke ( [ mailto:Choyke at ceu.hu | Choyke at ceu.hu ] ) or I myself ( [ mailto:info at knochenarbeit.de | info at knochenarbeit.de ] ) will also be able to provide anybody with details or answer questions.
At present the website is supported financially by the following institutions
• Institut für Prähistorische und Naturwissenschaftliche Archäologie, Universität Basel, Switzerland
• Palaeo-Research Institute, University of Johannesburg, South Africa
• Uniwersytet Wrocławski, Poland
• Research Group AS2 (ArchéoScience / ArchéoSociale), Département d’anthropologie, Université de Montréal, Canada
In the past the Laboratoire TRACES Toulouse, France, contributed as well.
Thanks a lot to everybody who support(ed) the website.
