this months bonetool is a late Roman sword chape from Mainz and a free reconstruction of it.

A workshop entitled  “Reading Bone Tools: Problems and Approaches” will be given by Alice Choyke hosted by the University of Toronto Faunal Interest Group on the 14th of October 2019. See the mail of Aleksa Alaica below.

> The Faunal Interest Group will host Dr. Alice Choyke for a workshop on worked osseous material. Dr. Choyke and participants will have interactive discussions about various themes in bone tool research. The outcomes of this workshop will be to share current research projects that address bone tools, consider various methods and theories that allow for interpretation of past practice and future considerations to explore in the various regions and periods for each participant. The FIG will welcome Dr. Choyke at Red Room (444 Spadina Avenue) on Sunday October 13th from 6:30pm to 8pm. The main event will take place on Monday October 14th at the Archaeology Centre Boardroom (19 Russell Street) room AP140 from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
