Dear All,attached you see pictures of fragments of what seems to be a bone comb that was discovered in a post-Roman context (4th century) in Romania, south-east Transylvania, site Olteni. There are several metal pins in it.Since I'm not a worked bone specialist, I would like to ask your help to say the most that can be said about this piece. It seems made of bone to me, but the archaeologist suggested antler and that got me a little confused.Did anyone see anything similar somewhere? Or have an idea how it might have looked like in one piece?Would microscopic images help me in any way to identify the species or find out more about the way it was worked?Thank you for any help (and references, if it's the case)!Best regards,Imola
