Dear all,
we have found an interesting bone object during the excavations at the late
medieval - early modern fortress in Sisak. The object is round in
cross-section, hollow, and pierced-thorugh at the top. It has vertical
incisions from top to bottom, divided in zones marked by horizontal line. It
has crossed my mind it could have served as a tally stick. Unfortunately, I
did not find an exact analogy in the literature I have the access to, so
perhaps it is sometning else.
Any clues?
The dimensions are: 8,9 cm x 1,4 cm.
Thanks in advance,
Rosana Škrgulja,
City Museum of Sisak
