Subject: [ZOOARCH] polished and grooved metapodials
To: <ZOOARCH at jiscmail.ac.uk>
Hello All,
I wonder if any one can point me in the direction of any references to
sheep/goat metapodials with markings like those seen in the link here:
https://trendlesproject.com/2013/03/23/while-sorting-through-the-animal-bones/
I have a small collection of these from a Roman site in England and am
intrigued to know what they may have been used for. Mine are slightly
polished on the lateral and medial surfaces and have little groups of
parallel grooves also on the lateral and medial and usually near to the
proximal end.
Many thanks in advance.
Best wishes,
Julia
