Dear Francois,

I don't have the possibility to make an X-ray.

Best wishes, Marloes

Dear all,

Thanks for your replies! Good idea to look at metal objects, Alice.

Sonia and Francois, I have seen the object quickly and will get back to it in a few weeks, so I can check the raw material.

Agnes, is your thesis available in pdf?

Best wishes, Marloes

Dear Marloes,

Is this antler or could it be the compact bone tissue from one surface of something like cattle pelvis or horse mandible?

All the best,

Sonia

Subject: [Bonetools] antler disc

Dear all,

I am looking for similar finds or references for this antler disc (or perhaps for the decoration?). It is probably dating 13-15 century AD, it is made of antler and is rather thin. The traces at the back and the two pins show that it was probably inlay/mount of a casket or something else.

Thanks,

Marloes
