Dear Miriam,

I do not know of any comprehensive papers to direct you to but I do have a lot of experience of examining and identifying ivories in many states of preservation and understand a lot about their deterioration in different environments so do get in touch if you have specific questions or particular examples you want to discuss.

All the best,

Sonia

Subject: [Bonetools] Question about taphonomy on ivory

Dear all,

Could anyone recommend any specific literature about taphonomy on ivory objects? the ideal it could be to find some paper with good descriptions (and photos!) of the damages on the surfaces and their causes...

Thank you very much in advance.
Miriam
