[Bonetools] material identification

Dear Miriam,
This is mature mammal bone. The picture is of a transverse section through a strip of long bone shaft. There is fibro-lamellar bone at the top and a very distinct band of secondary osteon structures below this. Finally there are a few layers of new bone formation at the endosteal surface, at the bottom of the section.
I think what is confusing people is the very marked appearance of these features.  They are usually much less obvious to the eye but the preservation of this piece has led to differential colouration of the features.
