Subject: [Bonetools] A possible ivory pendant

Hi folks,

I have a colleague who found an artifact on an Iroquoian site in Ontario and has two questions about it:

1) Could it be ivory?

2) What function could it have? A pendant is the best interpretation I could think of considering the two (partial) perforations, but I wonder if there could be any other possibilities I should consider?

You can see pictures of the artifact on this link to Drobox, including a close-up picture of the fractured section showing the structural composition of the object:

Any suggestion, hint or comment would be much appreciated.

Best,
