Dear SAbine, ivory rings are found in Anglo-Saxon graves, both
cremations of 5th century date and inhumations 6th. Also a few from
north Germany 4-5th century cremations. I wrote a paper which I dont
have electronically : "From Isidore to isotopes: Ivory rings in early
medieval graves" in Image and Power, ed Hamerow and McGregor 2001. But
it is summarised by Ian Riddler in his recent section in Hills and Lucy
2013 Spong Hill Part IX : chronology and synthesis p.1-3-4.
Interesting to hear you have them in Sweden also. Best, Catherine Hills
