Dear Alice, for that I'm afraid we need the IAA permission as these objects came from their dig. Indeed Marloes' proposal and Heidi's parallel were really amazing as well as accurate!

Dear Etan, Dear mother bone ladies,
It would be neat to somehow present these rings as the bone tool of the month with Heidi's explanatory image and the joint explanation. It is so nice to see you guys reason things out and we should share those thoughts on the webpage where they can be archived!

Dear all,
Here are some bone rings found in Jaffa, Israel by the Israel Antiquities Authority in a context of - probably - the beginning of the 20th century. In that time Palestine was already rather modernized, especially a port city like Jaffa. The objects could have been imported, mainly the large ring.
Does anyone have any idea about the use of these rings, any parallels?
Etan
