Dear David,

This find isn't from Northern/Western Europe, but from a medieval (11-13th century) hungarian village. The cross is made from antler and came to light in a grave of a child.

Sincerely,
Marta

Subject: [Bonetools] bone cross pendant

This bone cross was originally found in a confusing mix of contexts and
based on that data could be placed anywhere from the 8th - 13th C.

Stylistically it is similar to the Saxon pectoral crosses of the 7th-9th C,
but I am unaware of other finds like it in bone. Does anyone know of
similar, more securely dated, bone/antler examples from Northern/Western
Europe during the Medieval?

Regards,

David Constantine
