[Bonetools] Fw: Bone items from Conisbrough Castle

They vaguely (!) remind me of the retable from Fritzlar, Germany, dating anywhere between the 12th and 13th century. I´ve attached a scan, if you need the German text on the item or a rough translation, please let me know. It´s taken from M. Miller, Kölner Schatzbaukasten. Mainz 1997, p.85. I think I have something else on it as well.

Considering the holes, I would look out for fittings or inlays related to furniture, boxes, books and so on.

Best wishes from Germany

Melanie Langbein

A message from Kevin Booth concerning some odd-looking objects from Conisbrough Castle. Does
anybody have any ideas about them ?

>I hope you do not mind my contacting you?  I have been discussing two odd bone artefacts from
Conisbrough Castle with Susan Harrison and we thought you might be able to point us in the right
direction.  Attached are rather horrible images, but hopefully enough to see what they are.
Described as:

>2 bone plates.  Thin section flat pieces shaped with hook at one end, narrowing at centre and
drilled fastening hole at other end.  Decorated on one side only with border of fine drilled dots.
Left and right of a pair.

clueless.
