[Bonetools] Mammoth tusk as raw material in Roman times?

Thanks for this Ian. I will be very interested to know on what the identification as mammoth is based for this object too. I have been trying to get hold of all Bannerjee's papers on ivory identification as part of my project and this is one I still need.

If anyone has a pdf/copy of either of these papers they could send to me I would be most grateful.

This would need to be checked but I think I am right in believing that a merovingian object from Frankfurt Dom was also thought to be mammoth ivory:
