Dear All,
do you have any idea, a part of what kind of tool/item/device/decoration
could have been the bone artifact in the attached picture? It was found
more than 20 years ago in the center of medieval Wroclaw, within the
cultural layer dated back to the half of 13th century. The whole surface is
highly polished, one end is thinned (and possibly slightly burned - black
colour), but all edges of those negatives are heavily rounded and polished
as well. Nevertheless, on one side, surfaces of those negatives bear traces
of scraping or whittling by a metal knife. I made micro photographs. If you
would like to look at them, let me know. It looks like a handle but there
is no hole to fix a tang.
Best,
Bernadeta
