Dear Francois,
At the front are the numbers 5; at the back side the numbers 6; at the sides: 1 or 2; and at the top side: 3 and 4.
and 4 and 3 under the two lower ?
It's taken from the 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 type, mediaeval at Saint-Denis (upper/first line of my table).
This one seems to be a 1/6, 2/5, 3/4, a classical one, with 6
on the top and 1 where the dice sits on the pole.

Dear Monica Tielens,
I have seen a fine, a marvellousely treated hair pin with a dice as head. But I must search in my (rather thick) file...
I remember this die stands on the 1 ont the stalck/stem, with the 6 above, what means that your very colleague of classical time saw/regarded it as I propose to consider what I call classical dice (joint pdf).
I don't reach easily your image (and I have more than 250 e-mail to face..). Would guide me, or send it separately ?
Your's.

Dear all,
A few years ago I so a Roman hairpin with a die on top in a museum in Tarragona. This one I made and you can find it on my website www.bikkelenbeen.nl It is objectnumber 511 Romeinse haarnaald met dobbelsteen. Although it is not the same as the object you showed us, it is a little bit similar.
Greetings Monica Tielens

Dear all,
A question from a German colleague.
This object is 6,6 cm long, diameter of the shaft is 0,4 cm. The dice are circa 0,6 x 0,7 cm.
Has anyone of you seen such a piece before, or has any other information?
With best wishes,
Marloes
