Hello Alice,
I ought to point out that we invented the idea of the parchment pricker in England around 1990,
but we have also now abandoned it ! The objects that were thought to be parchment prickers are now
regarded as styli, and I suspect the German object is also a stylus, for use with a wax tablet.
