[Bonetools] object decorated with dice

Dear all,
 
Thank you for your comments. I have received some pictures from another viewpoint.
The excavator thinks it could be writing equipment for keeping scores for example. 
 
The date is uncertain, but late medieval. The context is the court of a castle.

Perhaps it's too thick and short to be a [hair pin]? possibly a stylus? As for the dice, keep in mind their connection to luck, so why not carve it on an object, like a hamsa (hand palm) and many other symbols?

This object is 6,6 cm long, diameter of the shaft is 0,4 cm. The dice are circa 0,6 x 0,7 cm. 
 
Has anyone of you seen such a piece before, or has any other information?
