Dear Marloes,

This is a common and representative item of the Middle Neoltihic (IVth millenium BC) in France (Micheslberg and Chasséen) and Germany (Mittel und Jungneolithikum : Grossgartach, Rössen, Michelsberg, TRBK ?). They can be elaborated either in bone or pig tusk.

Below : a very beautiful piece from Chasséen in the Yonne Valley made with a pig tusk and thinly elaborated, just published. Many others are in bone.
