Dear all,
sorry for this late reply, but I just got back on the Bonetools list and
checked the archives from last month. I don't know if Arjan got an
answer from Zooarch, but I might have some good news: there is at least
one other person in the world who is interested in archaeological worked
caudal vertebrae of sperm whales. It could be a good starting point:
WHALE BONES AND SHELL PURPLE-DYE AT MOTYA (WESTERN SICILY, ITALY). By:
Reese, David S.. Oxford Journal of Archaeology, May2005, Vol. 24 Issue
2, p107-114, 8p, 1 Chart; DOI: 10.1111/j.1468-0092.2005.00227.x; (AN
16868461)
I'm sending the pdf to Arjan in a separate message, but if you want it,
just ask.
