[Bonetools] FW: Happy Christmas Spoon

Interesting! No parallels known to us from Orkney, either in archaeology
or in Social History. Have you tried NMS, the Highland Folk Museum or
the township at Auchindrain? Or possibly Marischal Museum in Aberdeen?
The D-shaped cross-section of the handle, and the irregularity of the
carving, has me thinking about anthropology more than archaeology.

Subject: [Bonetools] FW: Happy Christmas Spoon

Dear all,

Happy new year. I've just received the following informal enquiry
about a (presumably modern) bone spoon - could anyone identify a close
parallel/date/context? It's probably of most interest to anyone with a
Scottish social history bent.

(really for Steve, as I know you are into things old and bony)

Have just been staying with inlaws in Scotland; was given this to stir
my tea with; puzzled. It was inherited from a previous generation, who
were farmers in Perthshire...that is all that is known.????

All the best

Peter
