[Bonetools] medieval antler container

Hi Marloes,

 

I don't know if they are what you are looking for, but there are
hollowed segments of antler beam from Orkney. They are habitually
described as 'handles' but some of them are so hollowed as to be
fine-walled, and have no sign of how they might have been fastened to an
implement, so I suspect they may have been handles. There are some from
the Iron Age settlement at Howe in Stromness, dating to the early
centuries AD or a little earlier. I attach the reference to the artefact
section of the report.

I am sure there was one from Sigtuna (central Sweden).  I'll see if I
can look it up.  If not, I'd suggest you contact Sten Tesch at Sigtuna
Museum (I'm afraid I don't seem to have his email to hand).
