Hello everyone,
I have - again - a question concerning early and middle Neolithic bone
objects. This antler piece comes from early Neolithic site Knjepište in Iron
Gates (near the Iron Gates II hydropowerplant, i. e. downstream of Lepenski
Vir), and should be of Early Neolithic origin. However, I have never seen
anything quite like this before - and it does not seem Neolithic to me. All
these Iron Gates sites also have traces of Roman occupation, and several
sites in Iron Gates II region have Bronze Age levels as well (Žuto Brdo
culture), and I think this piece is younger than Early Neolithic (data on
stratigraphy is scarce).
I would really appreciate if anyone could point me to some analogies.
thanx, Selena
