Subject: [Bonetools] ICAZ Raw Materials session

  Dear bone tool people,
Sonia, Carole and I are going organize an all day session at the Paris ICAZ (see message below). We have room for around 10-12 papers but we would also like to encourage posters about use of bone, antler and tooth (ivory) as raw materials. The points of view may range from tricky identification and distinguishing between raw material classes, conservation and socio-cultural aspects of raw material choice. We would like to encourage posters as well and aim to also have an organized poster session at the meetings connected directly to the session. The hope at the end is to have enough good papers for a nice ICAZ/WBRG volume on the subject. We intend to peer review the papers so be prepared that your paper may ultimately not be published or require re-writing. However, the aim is to produce a good volume that shows archaeologists and archaeozoologists In general the kind of useful information available from worked bone studies.
If you are interested and plan to participate whether by poster or paper please bring the finished text for the volume with you to Paris, preferably on CD or send it to me (Alice) beforehand. Once we know who plans to participate we will send around format guidelines, probably similar to what Oxbow books (who has publshed similar volumes from other ICAZ conferencs) requires.

  Best,
  Alice, Sonia and Carol
