Dear all,
I don't know anything about prehistoric thimbles I'm afraid. I do know that there is a couple that just published their thesis on Dutch thimbles, but this is only on thimbles and thimble production from recent periods. Apparently the Dutch Republic was famous for its thimble production! I have seen thimbles made of metal, bone and ivory (16th-18th century).
