Dear Lionel,
there is one cattle scapula used as scraping tool amongst the animal bones of the Bronze-Age mine of Karnab / Musiston (Uzbekistan.
M. Doll. Animal and man in mines - the bone assemblage from Karnab and Musiston. In: Th. Stöllner, G. Körlin, G. Steffens, J. Cierny (Eds.): Man and Mining - Mensch und Bergbau. Studies in honour of Gerd Weisgerber on occasion of his 65th birthday. Der Anschnitt, Beiheft 16, Bochum 2003, 113-125.
There are 4 comparable pieces made of sheep and goat scapulas from the Bronze-Age mine of Laghe Morad in Veshnoveh /Iran, a bone assemblage that I am working on at the moment.
Greetings,
Monika Doll
