Another important direction to consider is what is it about the environment of your site that would have made THIS kind of line fishing so important. You have one of the major experts
on icthyoarchaeology (fish bones in archaeology) on your doorstep: Daniel Makowiecki (Daniel.Makowiecki at umk.pl) who is a very nice decent guy and an excellent scholar. I would consult
with him - also because since these bone tool materials are usually poor studied and reported on he may actually know of other medieval bone hooks coming from faunal materials,
not recognized in the field.
