Dear all,
    as Christian writes I recall that preparation of dried sinew involves wetting it down and 
pulling it over a surface. Perhaps we are dealing here with a similar phenomenon? I am 
really looking forward to the someday WBRG webpage when we can all go directly to the 
articles mentioned by M. Poplin to see what he is refering to. It is frustrating to be in a place 
without decent libraries I can tell you!
