Dear All,

Should anyone have a chance to discuss this with real conservetors, 
just a reminder that even more than usewear may be obliterated:

The use of organic solvents in the same substances is often a coup 
de grace to perspectives of radiocarbon dating as well. 

I also regard all such phenomena part of the taphonomic process (it 
is "life" after death, after all), and messing up the 14C signal by 
"secondary" (=modern) human action leads to results analogous 
with complete fossilisation, when no collagene survives for 
radiocarbon dating.
