        There is a nice little article in the Crafting Bones volume (WBRG, 
Budapest 2001) on mining with simple bone chisels at a Late Bronze Age 
Russian site in the Urals:

(1690-1410 BC) in the Kargaly Mining Complex in the South Ural Part of
