I would really like to convene an informal 'plenary' type meeting of the Worked Bone Research Group at the ICAZ meeting in Mexico. Of particular interest:
1. Bringing together interested archaeologists and archaeozoologists from outside Europe with their European counterparts.
Do you know any scholars from Central or Latin America coming to the meetings who would be willing to summarize some of the work being done in bone tool studies in these regions. Chriatian Gates and Renee walker will be discussing bone tool studies in North America. Of course if there will be anyone prepared to talk about Asia or Australia bone tool studies I would be very, very happy. It would be wonderful. Nowadays, with e-mailwe should really b able to form a proper community on the mailing list, our own website and NOW Bone Commons
2. Discussion of methodologies and goals
3. Microwear studies such as carried out by the French and some North Americans over the last twenty years
I would also take the opportunity to advertise the WBRG meetings in Paris and encourage people outside Europe to go.
I am looking forward to meeing some of my Latin American colleagues in Mexico!!!
Best,
Alice Choyke
