Dear Colleagues,
An apology to those of you on the list who are not attending
the meeting but this is the fastest way of making sure this last circular
reaches as many of the participants as possible. I will also send out a
snail mail version as usual.
I am sending this electronic version in both attachment form
and in the body of this letter.
2nd Meeting of the Worked Bone Research Group
Budapest 31 August - 5 September 1999
CIRCULAR V
This is the final circular before we all meet in Budapest on
the 31st of August. Everything appears to be in order at the moment. I
wanted to take the opportunity, however to address two questions
which have been raised by colleagues.
1. Lectures are planned for 20 minutes with a ten minute discussion
period. Please time your papers carefully. Remember 6 pages of text, if
read clearly should be sufficient. Those collegues with posters have
been incorporated into the lecture schedule in as much as we can use
that time slot to look at the poster and discuss it.
2. If you manage to actually write the text of your article for the
proceedings before the meeting I would ask that it should be no longer
than ten pages of text, double spaced and with 12 point letters. The
reference list and illustrations should not be much more than five pages
altogether although I can show some flexibility about this. I need to
have it in Word for Windows.RTF (rich text files) as well as hard copy.
3. British Archaeological Reports (B.A.R.) prefers the Harvard system of
referencing. I can get examples of this for you on demand.
4. It would be best if we could have abstracts of each paper plus
keywords in both English as well as one other major European
language such as French or German. Please make sure these are
correct linguistically as I can deal with the English texts but am not
competant to edit in languages outside English.
5. I plan to edit the English of all the non-native speakers. This means
that there may be changes in syntax and changes to American spelling
etc. I will leave the articles of native speakers largely alone except to
check for typographic errors etc.
6. The deadline for submission will be the end of January 2000.
Because I doing this editing work on my own I simply cannot afford to
drag the process out for late comers. End of January is therefore a real
deadline.
7. We will need to discuss finding some money to help pay someone
here to do the final formatting into an appropriate camera-ready form.
Depending on the amount of work this should cost around $200 -
$300.
We are looking forward to meeting all of you in Budapest.
